Not if one is trying to grow Australian natives (which is the focus of this community). But for exotics and most fruiting plants; supplementary nitrogen fertilisers like blood & bone are usually needed. But nitrogen fertilisers will kill Australian natives.

For everyone else, thankfully, the vast majority of fertilisers actually cater to exotic plants (what would likely be 'natives' in your region). Which is why the vast majority of fertilisers kill Australian natives. :/
